Our Workshops

We partner with community centers, non-profits, and arts organizations to provide free and affordable book arts workshops to people of all ages. Based on the interests and capacity of our collaborating organization, we tailor each curriculum to focus on a specific theme or question, which informs the edition of books produced. Workshops cover disciplines such as pen and ink, printmaking, watercolor, comics, photography, and creative writing. Previous themes have included feminist histories, analog memes, Pokemon, alphabet alchemy, what kids want for homework, among others.

  • Our workshops are designed to allow participants to choose how, what, and when they want to collaborate. We encourage experimentation with language, materials, mark-making, and the conceptualizing of ideas.

  • We create programming that fits the specific location, age-group, community, and physical meeting space of each site. Throughout the project development process, we connect with participants and administrators to design programming that aligns with their interests and needs.

  • We work to engage children as partners in as many aspects of the publication as possible. In many workshops, children work together to build pages, design, and assemble the publication.
